The Old Xaverians'
Cricket Club (OXCC) was founded in 1927 and in season
2007/08 is celebrating its 82nd year in existence.
The club currently has two teams competing in the MCC
Club XI Competition in Melbourne (up until and including
2006/07 the OXCC had one team), a competition run by
the Melbourne Cricket Club, and has won five premierships
(1984/85, 1986/87, 1989/90, 1996/97, 2000/01).
The OXCC is an affiliate amateur sporting club of the
Old Xaverians' Association (OXA). Established in 1910,
the OXA is an extension of school life and every former
Xavier College student automatically becomes a member.
The OXCC plays its home matches at Xavier College, Kew,
and while many of its players are Xavier College old
boys, the club welcomes any player who is keen to play
regardless of which school they attended.
The MCC Club XI season runs from October through to
March, with most of the member clubs, like Old Scotch,
Old Haileybury, Old Wesley, Old Melburnians, Old Brighton
and of course the OXCC, affiliated with APS schools.
The season is made up entirely of one-day matches, played
mostly on Saturday afternoons commencing at 1pm.
The OXCC gathers for a net session each Wednesday evening
at Xavier College at 6:30pm.
